Nigeria is the first of our African export markets, and the way a steel shipment clears here is different from the Gulf or South America: the goods are released against the SON conformity programme, a Form M opened through a bank, and a Pre-Arrival Assessment Report from Nigeria Customs. This page is the short version; the line pipe page has the grade and delivery detail.

Mejor Steel is the export agent for the mills that make your material: one contract, one delivery date, and the mill named on the quotation. How we supply
We reply within one business day, Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00 CST. Or write to info@mejorsteel.com / WhatsApp.
The compliance route in one line
Three documents carry a Nigerian steel import through clearance:
- Form M — the import declaration opened by the buyer through its bank and lodged on the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System before the goods ship.
- SONCAP — the Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Program. It runs as a product certificate covering the product line, plus a SONCAP certificate issued per consignment, processed through SON-accredited firms.
- PAAR — the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report approved by the Nigeria Customs Service against the final documents, against which the consignment is cleared on arrival.
The duty rate follows the ECOWAS Common External Tariff for the HS heading of the pipe, not the product name. Confirm the current band and any levy with the clearing agent before pricing.
What we ship
- API 5L line pipe — Grade B to X70, PSL1 and PSL2.
- Casing and tubing — API 5CT, J55 to Q125.
- Pipe fittings and flanges to ASME and ASTM.
- Coated pipe for burial and offshore.
Ports and delivery
Most container traffic lands at the Lagos ports, Apapa and Tin Can Island. For oil and gas and breakbulk pipe, Onne is the port that serves the Niger Delta project base, so it is the usual discharge point for line pipe and OCTG going to oilfield projects. Warri and Calabar cover the other basins.
Where to go next

- Request a quotation – specification, quantity and destination port
- Incoterms for steel pipe – FOB, CIF and CFR for steel cargo
